Payments-focused cryptocurrency XRP has surpassed BNB token to become the world's four-largest digital asset by market cap.

As of writing, XRP boasted a market cap of $41.44 billion, with the tally surging 66% in the past 24 hours alone, according to CoinDesk data. While BNB's market value rose 6.5% to $40.57 billion. XRP's price surged from 47 cents to nearly 78 cents.

EOS was trading at $0.7740 by 16:52 (13:52 GMT) on Saturday, up 10.38% on the day. It was the sharpest daily rise in cryptocurrency since June 30th.

XRP was trading at $0.46669 at 23:50 (20:50 GMT) on Wednesday, down 10.56% on the day. This was the most significant drop in the value of the cryptocurrency since November 9, 2022.

The Ethereum price has slipped by 0.3% in the past 24 hours, while keeping to the $1,800 support level it has held for several months now.

The USDT stablecoin issuer, Tether, has announced regular investments in the first cryptocurrency since May 2023.

Starting this month, Tether will regularly allocate up to 15% of its net realized operating profits towards purchasing Bitcoin. These Bitcoin shall be considered on top of the minimum reserves assets that 100% back tether tokens.
